Intro to the Universal Laws: Law of Attraction

Not too long ago, the concept of the Law of Attraction (LoA) was unknown to most people. It is said that this 'law' has been kept secret for thousands of years, only passed on to those who are in power. The masses of people were never taught the law, and therefore- it was only accessible to those who were rich, or in power. Until now.



In 2006, "The Secret" film was released (this movie is currently on Netflix and Youtube, I highly recommend you to watch it and share it!). Suddenly, everyone was talking about the Law of Attraction- the big secret! But this was just the begininning of a new understanding of this Universe, for everyone around the world. Now, the Universal Laws are accessible to everyone, thanks to the internet!



We all know about some of the invisible, immutable laws that run this universe. Gravity is the best example. The force of gravity is obvious. No one is exempt from the law of gravity, and it is constantly working without flaw. Magnetism and electricity are also some great examples of forces in which we live with everyday, yet we cannot fully explain or understand them.


I would like to introduce you to some "new" laws that you may have never heard of in your life. But, every day that you are alive, you are living under these laws. Ancient people all over the world knew more about these laws than the average person does today. These laws work in harmony within the Universe and nature, and make up our daily lives. The more you know, the easier and better life becomes!




It is not yet known how many laws of the Universe exist. Some say there are 7, others list up to 20 or more laws. Generally speaking, most people around the world are recognizing 12 main Universal Laws. When understood and used properly, using these laws can CHANGE YOUR LIFE!

I want to start with the most popular- the Law of Attraction.




There is a whole new field of science out there now that we know very little about- quantom physcis. Scientists have very recently discovered that you can change your body's DNA through your thoughts alone (thoughts are frequencies; you control these frequencies)!!! Up until recently, we thought that 90% of our DNA was "junk DNA"....junk?!? Scientists were not convinced, and wanted to learn more. They have found that this "junk" DNA is actually DNA working on a nanoscopic level, everchanging and responding to YOU!




What does this all mean???


Everything that has ever existed, or ever will, is energy. Energy can be measured in frequencies. You are energy, your thoughts are energy, the screen you are looking at is energy, atoms are energy, cats are energy, your brainwaves are energy, even feelings are energy. Like I said, energy is measured in frequencies, and everything has its own unique frequency/vibration. This is basically the Law of Vibration (click here to read more about the law of Vibration). Love and feelings of happiness have a very high frequency. While fear and hatred have a very low frequency. 




The Law of Attraction simply states that like attracts like. What you think about, you bring into your life. 

 

For example, imagine your thoughts & brainwaves as a google search for the Universe. Whatever you seek, you find.

If you're predominantly thinking of happiness, love, & gratitude- you are giving off high frequencies, and attracting into your life anything that is vibrating at a similar, high frequency. Thinking about love, praying for love, imagining love, speaking with love, acting with love, showing and giving love- all bring more love into your life!


Remember, this law states that what you think about, you receive (not immediately, of course- but over time- depending on how big and important it is to you). So, if you are thinking "I do not want to fail, I cannot fail, I really hope that I do not fail.." this will attract failure, because you are thinking about the feeling of failure. Instead, to use this law to your advantage, think "I know I will be successful, I wish for success, I am successful, I believe in myself". This is what will start showing signs of success in anything that you do.

SO, BASICALLY:

1. The law of Vibration states that everything has its own frequency.

2. The law of Attraction states that when it comes to frequencies, like attracts like. Your brain send out thoughtwaves of a specific frequency, and attracts to you things in the world which match that frequency. These laws are always working for you, even while you are asleep. You are always giving and receiving thoughtwaves throughout the world; you are always attracting something. Eventually, you may discover that "coincidences" and "luck" do not exist. Everything truly does happen for a reason (cause & effect). Everything is connected in the energy field.

Does this all sound too simple? It is simple! There are tricks to manifest your desires quicker and more effectively, once you begin to really use this law to your advantage. Here are some tips:


Focus. Really focus on your goals, dreams, and what you want. Never think about what you don't want- this is a complete waste of energy and only brings you more thingss to complain about- causing a snowball effect of attracting bad things in life. Break the cycle, think about what you WANT! Anytime your focus moves, you lose momentum. Keep your focus on what you do want.


Desire. How bad do you want it? The more emotion and passion you have for it, the faster you will receive it. Remember, you want to keep your thoughts similar to your desires. You want to think high-frequency thoughts (excitement, passion, joy, hope, faith, eagerness), and avoid low-frequency thoughts which will only slow down or stop the process (anxiety, worry, regret, feeling like it is impossible or you do not deserve it, lack of faith/hope, being ungrateful for what you already have-these are all example of resistance and this will block your desires from coming into your life)


Align. Once you have set your focus, and removed any resistance that may be blocking you- you must align yourself with who you really are. Learning about your body's energy centers (chakras, or chi) can greatly help you raise your power- and improve your overall physical, emotional, and mental health.

If I told you that your life is completely in your control, you would probably call me crazy and a wishful thinker. Or maybe you would laugh at it like all of those other cheesy, inspirational quotes. Or, you would agree with me and say that it is exactly how the Law of Attraction works. If you have never heard of the Law of Attraction, then you are definitely starting to think that I'm crazy :) But wait, I can explain!






Your brainwaves (thoughts) are measured by frequency, or wavelengths. Actually, everything is energy, and energy is measured by frequency. Everything that exists in the Universe has its own specific frequency. To keep things simple, love is one of the highest frequencies, and fear is one of the lowest. This is already a scientific fact. We can, and do, measure brainwaves- and study the effects. So...what does that mean?


By changing your thoughts, you can change your body's frequency. High frequencies attract high frequencies. The Law of Attraction (which I can explain another time) works by attracting alike frequencies. This is kinda what we call life. But we feel it, we do not see it happening.

(Instead of just reading this list, feel each word. Your simple intentions to feel better can begin to raise your frequency! What does love feel like? What do low frequencies feel like? :(

(If you can relate to any of the above mentioned feelings, you are not alone. Most people throughout the world are vibrating at lower frequencies. The good news is that you are in control, and you can change your frequency right now, any time. Whenever you catch yourself thinking in a negative way, stop. Take a breath. Thinking of nothing at all is better than thinking of something negatively. Find a way to shift your focus)




Frequencies are generally measured in megahertz (MHZ). The typical frequency of a healthy body is 62-72 MHZSomeone who has cancer is vibrating at a lower frequency, usually around 40-42 MHZ.
If you are near death, your frequency is somewhere around 24-26 MHZ.





So, if your body is functioning at a low frequency, you are doomed to get cancer??? Yes and No.
No one is doomed. But if you CHOOSE to think lower thoughts, say lower things, and do lower things- you are vibrating at a lower frequency and this creates the perfect welcoming enviornment for cancer (or other diseases). People who are not hopeful, people who are scared, people who are angry and pessimistic, are all people more susceptible to illness, because they are vibrating at a lower frequency by being so negative in the first place. ALL you have to do to get better, to raise your vibration, is to start thinking in higher frequencies!



Our frequenies are constantly changing. Think about how a fire moves around and 'dances'. Your frequency is constanly moving with you and your thoughts. During the day, you could be affected by factors like stress, homework, accidents, long work days, annoying people, pollution, unhealthy food...the list is never-ending! There are so many potential factors than could contribute to the lowering of your frequency.



Your ability to be affected and impacted by these factors is the most important part. People who let the small things go tend to have higher vibrations. They are virtually immune to the negativity, and do not allow it in their life. These are the people who stay healthier longer, and live happier lives. Anyone can live a happy life. Your life is truly in your control.
We feel the mind/emotion and body connection all of the time! Have you ever let yourself get so sad and upset that your stomach started to hurt? Have you ever been so stressed out that you started to get a migraine? Have you ever felt so excited that you felt "butterflies in your stomach"? These are all examples of your body's frequency changing. You can tell what your frequency is emitting, based on how you FEEL!




I will write about human energy fields and auras later...But until then, imagine your body as more than it appears to be. Your brain is constantly giving and receiving information. Remember, everything has a frequency. If you are seeing bad things, thinking bad things, talking about bad things, or doing bad things... you are vibrating at a low frequency and you will attract alike things into your life. It is like the snowball effect. You wake up in a bad mood, start thinking negatively throughout the day- and what do ya know, you are really having a bad day! This is a classic example of the Law of Attraction. The same law goes for positive thinking, you can think your way into a more positive life!







Easy ways to raise your vibration and to attract good things into your life

  • Meditation & sleep will always help to at least neutralize your frequency, if not make it better! Sleep usually just pauses your current vibration, while meditation works to actively and consciously raise your frequency! It has been proven that meditation can raise your frequency by up to 15 MHZ! Meditation is not some crazy foreign practice- it is something everyone should do!!! Different forms of mediation include prayer, vigorous exercise, dancing, drawing, singing..the possibilities are endless


  • Appreciation is one of the easiest and fastest ways to increase your frequency! To appreciate is to show deep love and gratitude, which are the basics of high vibrations. Write a list of everything you're good at, or things you love about yourself. Or, make a list of things you love about your partner, or anyone you love. Lists are the best way, because they make you really think on a broad spectrum. To see your thoughts & feelings on paper, in your own handwriting, is extremely powerful.


  • Set Goals & dream of the Future. It is important not to think about the past too much, or to dwell on anything at all. Let it go. It is okay to think about the future, as long as it is good and hopeful (no time for worrying- I used to have "severe anxiety"; I know the feeling). Instead, think about the future with excitement. Be ready and open for good things to come! Set goals, and truly believe in yourself! Write down your goals so you can see them everyday. Let your goals inspire new thoughts.


  • Be Here & Now. The present is truly all that we have. All of your power is in the Now. Pay attention to your body, take a moment to notice your surroundings. What do you hear? What does your body feel like right now? What is your current emotion? Are you worrying about anything that happened earlier? How are you feeling RIGHT NOW? Because that is extremely important. That is your vibration. And you can change it. There is always room for expansion, always ways to raise your frequency and grow!


  • Detox your body. Eliminate smoking cigarettes or being around those who do, alcohol, avoid pollution, pesticides, GMOs, fluroide, and processed foods as often as you can. There are many ways to clean your body from the inside out to remove toxins and free-radicials. This will not only make you feel better and live longer, but also make you look and feel younger! A few good detox methods include exercise, eating leafy greens, and juicing.


  • Be Aware of your surroundings. They say you become the sum of the 5 people closest to you. That is partially true, you do tend to become like those you spend the most time with. Reflect on who you spend time with, what you do with your time, where you go, what kind of house you live in, where you work...these are all representations of your current vibration and you can gain a lot of insight through them! If you do not like someone, let them exit peacefully out of your life- do not feed them your attention. If you like something in your life, focus more on that- learn to appreciate it more deeply!

  • Look for Harmony. It is everywhere, you just need to desire it. Breathe. Breathe deeply 3 times, really letting go when you breathe out. Just breathing and becoming aware of your breath is enough to stabalize your frequency. Take a break whenever you feel stressed. If you work with electronics a lot, take a break at least every few hours, and get some fresh air! EMFs (electromagnetic fields) released by electronic devices can interfere with your body's energies. If you always have your cell phone glued to your hands, try taking a break from it for a few hours a day (if you can). You will start feeling the difference once you let your body find harmony within itself.


  • Understand that you are in control. Take control. If someone is being negative trying to bring you down, do not fall for the trap. You know too much about your frequency now to just ignore it or let it bring you down anymore (sorry!). If you do not like something, change it, or forget about it. Sound too easy? That's because it is. I am not saying become ignorant to the bad things in the world. I am saying resistance, force, and anger will not take you far. If you want something, think about THAT. The Law of Attraction states that whatever you think about, you bring into your life. Like a google search, if you type "I do not want to see animal cruelty", what do you think you will see? Images and stories of animal cruelty- as many stories as you can read! Learn to think about what you want, and understand that, by law, it is coming to you!

~Warning~ Stay Away from the Microwave!

I have been using a microwave oven for as long as I've known how to press the buttons...up until now.


Almost everyone I know uses a microwave on a daily basis. I mean, over 90% of American homes have a microwave oven. Many restaurants, hotels, and businesses throughout the world have them. And I know I am not just speaking for myself when I say it is easy to use a microwave oven your whole life without ever second guessing so. So what made me change my mind?


 

I second guessed it. I got curious. Not much research was done on these ovens before they were released to the public (after being accidently invented) in the 1950’s. Since then, many scientists and experts around the world have researched the effects on microwaves.


 

After not even five minutes of reading, I was ready to throw out my shiny microwave oven forever!





 

Have you guessed it? Microwaves kill you.



 

 

First, what is a microwave? A microwave is an electromagnetic wave of a specific wavelength. They are emitted by our cell phones, computers, and TVs- so you could say that you are already exposed to microwaves & EMFs (electromagnetic fields) to a certain extent. Microwave ovens work by using these microwaves to violently vibrate water molecules, thereby heating the food.


 

Let's start with the FDA, they seem to know their stuff ;). The official FDA website (fda.gov) states, "The microwave energy is changed to heat as it is absorbed by food, and does not make food “radioactive” or "contaminated." Also, the "FDA sets and enforces standards of performance for electronic products to assure that radiation emissions do not pose a hazard to public health."


 

So, the FDA says that microwaved food is safe, and not radioactive. And that the ovens, which leak radiation, are regulated to safe exposure levels.


It is also stated on their website that higher exposure to this radiation leakage is linked to sterility and the killing of sperm, as well as cataracts. And worse yet, the FDA states “Less is known about what happens to people exposed to low levels of microwaves. Controlled, long-term studies involving large numbers of people have not been conducted to assess the impact of low level microwave energy on humans.” Over six decades since the microwave oven has been invented, and yet we have no studies on their overall safety??? This pissed me off. I knew there were studies out there.




 

 


Have you ever heard the term, “nuke” it in the microwave? It isn’t a joke. You are literally zapping the life out of your food when you microwave it. A study published by The Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture found that fresh vegetables lost almost ALL (about 97%) of their antioxidants. Over 90% of nutrients are lost by microwaving. Once microwaved, a vegetable is nothing but a hot, dead piece of fiber.


 

But at least it’s not radioactive...right? It might be unhealthy to use a microwave, but how does it kill? That just sounds crazy.

 

Microwaving, or "nuking" your food destroys up to 90% of its life force energy. What you eat, you become. If you are eating dead, lifeless, nutrient-lacking food, then that is what is fueling your body. These nutrient-hacked foods not only decrease the body’s ability to absorb certain nutrients, but can also lead to digestive diseases- and worse.


Food is almost completely void of any nutrition after nuking. To make the situation worse, the exposure and leakage of microwaves also damage the human body even before eating the microwaved food. Not to mention the chemicals that leak out from containers being heated in the microwave (especially microwavable dinner packaging…a.k.a 'cancer for dinner').


Exposure to microwaves increase the number of cancerous cells (which we all have) in blood, in the stomach, and in the intestines. Exposure also negatively interferes with brainwaves and their functions, and the nervous system. (Studies have shown that these waves affect the parts of the brain which control thought, consciousness, and other higher functions).



When you use a microwave, you are creating a harmful surrounding to yourself (and others nearby), and you are killing everything helpful and good in your food! There are so many foods which prevent cancers, help fight heart disease, boost your immune system, give your body essential nutrients and vitamins… but these foods lose all of these abilities as soon as they’re microwaved. In fact, some substances in foods (especially amino acids in meats, milk, vegetables & fruits) create carcinogenic (cancerous) compounds while being cooked in the microwave oven!


Studies also found problems with hormone production related to microwave exposure, causing hormonal imbalance. Further studies show that the known brainwave disturbances caused by exposure also lead to memory & concentration problems, sleeping problems, and a whole array of emotional & intellectual issues. These are only some of the known issues linked to microwaves, but the lists go on.




 

This is not a joke, and this is not meant to scare anyone. I am trying to spread awareness. Microwaves are banned in many different places around the world- just like GMOs- because of the well-known dangers. Unfortunately, America is an easy target when it comes to the food industry.


The next best thing? You can buy a decent toaster oven for about the same cost of a microwave oven, if not cheaper! Toaster ovens definitely do not work as fast or versatile as microwaves (what does?). However, your food will taste better and will be HEALTHIER and safe! No gamble necessary. I have been free of my microwave oven for just over a month now, and I have been able to cook and eat without ever thinking twice about nuking anything!!! If Americans cold cook just fine without them back in the day, we are definitely capable of living without them now! I love technology, but I love myself more (not in a selfish way, we all need to love and care for ourselves more) <3 Technology should always help you more than it is hurting you- otherwise it is more of a weapon than a convenience.


 

The sooner you stop using a microwave oven- the better. Radiation exposure builds up in the body over time, and some studies suggest that this radiation can leak as far as 500 meters (I hope it is not this serious, although you can track this radiation with a simple tool to find out for yourself). The effects of exposure long outlast the actual use of the oven, and exposure affects not only us- but plants and animals nearby too. Some people have even done their own at-home research with plants which are fed microwaved water vs. plants who are not. The results are very interesting.




I encourage you to do your own research and find out for yourself the harms and benefits of using microwave ovens. I know asking to throw out your perfectly good microwave is a lot- I could not even convince my own family to do something like that! But I do ask that you become aware, for you and future generations!

I've always hated shots. Don't all kids hate them? Truly, the older I get,the more I dislike them..

Now the flu shot is scarier than ever.  I have never received the flu shot in my life, but most people I know have. I never got the shot, and never got sick. I had friends who, faithfully ever year, got their vaccine- and some were still getting the symptoms. How??!

If the CDC, and every building with a pharmacy in America, all recommend taking this shot- then it must be good for you..right? I trust the CDC to tell me what is safe for me just as much as I trust a stranger to drive my car. Here are a few good reasons to never get a flu shot again, and some safer and healthier alternatives :)




1. With any vaccine, potential (and rare) risks include brain inflammation, autoimmune nervous system disorders, and death. Autism, ADHD, Alzheimer's, and many other disorders can stem from this brain inflammation- but this could take years to manifest. Tracing this back to any one vaccine can be nearly impossible. The risks might be rare, but they definitely do happen, and more research is proving it. Some people are more at risk than others, but every single vaccine has the capability to cause injury, adverse symptoms, or death.




In fact, let's look past the risks for a moment... Are the benefits even great enough to risk death? The flu definitely sounds better than brain inflammation..


2. Does the flu shot even work?! Former Chief Vaccine Officer at the FDA states, "there is no evidence that any influenza vaccine thus far developed is effective in preventing or mitigating any attack of influenza.” (http://www.vaccinationcouncil.org). There is no real evidence supporting the idea that it protects anyone from any virus.

The flu shot is based off of the theory- the idea- that it prevents the flu. Like a sugar pill (placebo effect), you think it is helping you, so maybe it does. Unfortunately, the syringe is filled with more danger than just sugar....



3. What is in a vaccine? Vaccines contain neurotoxins, formaldehyde, heavy metals (such as mercury and aluminum)- and suppress your immune response. Depending on the person, it may take weeks or even months to rebuld a healthy immune system. Vaccines bring in large foreign molecules into your body, which can confuse your immune system causing it to attack itself (autoimmune), or even trigger an allergic reaction.

Each yearly flu vaccine contains certain strains of influenza, in order to 'protect' from that strain. Unfortunately, there is no way to determine which strains to use and when. Every year, it is a guessing game to choose which strains will be used. So, if you're vaccinated with one strain, and come into contact with another, you still get the flu! You get the shot- you're still at risk, AND you're possibly experiencing symptoms, because the shot has given you the virus. These symptoms will be the same as the flu symptoms. Also, your body is more susceptible to any other contagious diseses because your immune system has been suppresed by the vaccine.





What if these are all just myths? What if vaccines are perfectly safe? Is there a safe way to prevent the flu??

There has been plenty of research done, and I encourage you to keep looking into the studies. I always like to know what I am putting into my body, and when I have kids some day, I will always do my best to be educated on what I am giving to them as well. Vaccines were approved in 1945, and have been in use for some time now. Many people have received vaccines their whole lives, and it has worked for them and their families. However, I would still do some personal investigation.

There are many people who support vaccines and claim that these studies against them are just myths, and that vaccines are safe. However, is it really worth taking that risk? Also, the CDC does admit that vaccines may cause severe allergic reactions, injury, and death. The studies cannot just be ignored. Microwave ovens, for example, were not thoroughly researched before they were released to the public. They are harmful, yet they are still used in over 90% of American homes- but that is another story... Just something to think about. I like to do the research for myself- it is my body after all. 



I choose not to vaccinate. I believe in healthcare, not sick care. I believe in buidling a healthy immune system naturally. Your body is who you are, your cells are made up of what you put into your body! Your body is always healing itself, and you can either help it fight- or slow it down. "Flu season" is not a season! You are not doomed to get sick, and you do not need a shot to be healthy!






HOW TO HELP YOUR BODY FIGHT- NATURALLY

 

  • Vitamins: will really help boost your immune system! Even on the cold days, try your best to get at least a few minutes of sunlight. Also, eat foods rich in Vitamin D such as salmon, mushrooms, eggs, almond milk, etc. A diet rich in fruits, veggies, and whole grains will keep your immune system healthy. There are lots of ways to get Vitamin C and other vitamins- avoid taking supplements and just eat healthy!
  • Nutrients: Antioxidants wil help your body stay healthy! You will find them in various fruits & vegetables. Eat all colors, and keep a variety in your kitchen! A rainbow a day keeps the doctor away ;)
  • Choose your Foods: Every time you eat, you are choosing to help your body or hurt it. Choose foods that will keep you healthy: leafy greens, berries, nuts, seeds, whole grains, etc. Avoid all processed foods and meats. Cook with healing spices, and add veggies to every meal and snack!
  • Don't smoke. Avoid alcohol. These are infamous for lowering your immune system. Definitely avoid these while sick and trying to recover.
  • Exercise regularly. Every day, any time, every body should get some exercise! Even if its just 20 minutes per day, you will notice and feel a good change. This will help your body and mind in so many ways!! Try something new like hot yoga, cycling, aerobics, dancing- or just go for a run around the neighborhood with a friend! There are a lot of resources online to find new, free, and fun workouts! 
  • Sleep well! Not everyone needs 8 hours of sleep, it is different for each person on each day. Making sure you are getting enough sleep each night is absolutely crucial to your health. Your body repairs itself and rejuvenates while you sleep and dream! Somewhere between 6 and 9 hours each night is average, but always listen to your body and give it what it needs! Young children, sick, and elderly people may require more sleep. The body runs on its own metabolic clock (circadian rhythms). Listen to your body!
  • Avoid sugar: Sugar is actually poison for your body! What? That is another long story..But in short, sugar immediately impairs funtion on the immune system. Sugars are simply a whole lot of calories and NO nutrients. Sugar is widely linked to cancer. Unfortunately, sugar is very hard to avoid these days, and is found naturally in foods- especially in fruits. So it is extremely important to avoid added sugar, and ALWAYS avoid artifical sugar (aspartame).
  • Natural antibiotics: Medicine is sick care. Nature is health care. Of course, washing your hands and keeping commonly used items clean are always a good practice. I like to use natural homemade cleaners around the house. There are also natural antibiotic foods you can eat to keep your body clean too! Garlic is anti-parasitic, anti-microbial, anti-fungal, and anti-biotic!

I remember as a kid, I would always get so scared whenever one of my friends ended up sick with a sore throat or the flu. Every year, as the cold weather started to hit, more and more kids would be staying home sick from school, and all I would worry about is whether or not I was next!


It felt scary thinking about how my body could get so sick and there was nothing I could do to stop it or make it end quicker! I felt like a victim sometimes- just waiting for the sickness to hit me. What a horrible feeling that is, being so out of touch with your body. If only I knew back then: it was all preventable! And I'm not talking about the flu shot. There are some good reasons why I do not support flu shots.. If you ever do get sick, there are "magical" ways to make yourself feel better.



Okay, so its not magic. But back in my childhood, these remedies would have definitely felt like magic! Actually, even as an adult, the results really do seem so magical. Let me explain...

Two days ago, I felt the onset of a sore throat. I was sitting at my desk, busy as work, when gradually I noticed my throat feeling swollen and achey. I immediately knew what that was- I was starting to get sick! In my old ways of thinking, I would have went straight to the pharmacy and grabbed some cough drops or even some cold medicine. I am SO happy I have found a 'new' way! I will never go to the pharmacy to buy these things ever again!

Yeah, it'll sure save me money, and probably time. But thats not why Im doing it. I have found natural, homemade remedies that will not only cure you quicker, prevent future problems, and make you feel better faster- but there's also no harmful chemicals being put into your body while doing so! This is extremely important.


Instead of going to the pharmacy, I went to my local grocery store:) Over the past few years, I have done plenty of research on plant-based nutrition. Basically, the only medicine I buy is FOOD! Not only will it help you to feel better when sick, but it will keep you healthy and prevent future illness! If you or a loved one are feeling ill, make sure you have these items handy at home:


  • lemons
  • ginger root
  • cinnamon
  • garlic
  • honey (raw, local)
  • apple cider vinegar 
  • filtered water
  • sleep, relaxation

 



So, sleep is obviously not something you buy. But it is just as important- if not the most important on the list. The first rule is to get PLENTY of sleep. Good sleep. The kind of sleep where you wake up 8 hours later feeling refreshed. Your body repairs itself quickest while it is asleep. Also, when you are awake, take it easy on yourself! RELAX. Seriously- your body is only sick because you need to pay more attention and care to it. You do not need to pay doctors or pharmaceutical companies!



Next, drink water. Bring water with you everywhere you go. Keep sipping on water throughout the day. It is SO important. Actually, most Americans are dehydrated (which I will also explain in another article), and this leads to a whole ton of other illness and problems. The single most supportive thing you can do for your body and brain is to drink WATER- especially when you are feeling sick or tired! Your body is made up of about 70% water. Luckily, most of the world is made of water too ;) Now, this is not the article to get into the tap water/bottled water issue... but any water is better than no water (generally speaking). So, if you have filtered or reverse osmosis water- perfect! But if not, tap water will do the job for now- although I recommend investing into a filter or reverse osmosis system, as it will be well worth the money!!! You never want too much of anything, but it is definitely going to help to stay hydrated while sick.



Now to supercharge your water.


Simply adding sliced lemons to your water will do wonders for your body. The Vitamin C and minerals from the lemon will boost your immune system. It will also flush out toxins from your body and balance your body's pH levels.


Everyone knows that hot beverages will help soothe a sore throat. What I didn't know is that hot water with lemons and ginger slices will not only soothe you, but it will heal you! Ginger eases nausea & upset stomach, cures migraines, reduces pain, cramps & inflammation, cures heartburn, and relieves fever, runny nose and coughing symptoms! It actually does a lot more than that, and there are many spices you may already have at home that are very beneficial! The easiest way to consume ginger is to heat water to near-boiling, then add a few slices of fresh ginger root to your cup. Enjoy your warm ginger tea with honey and/or lemons to taste. Honey also soothes sore throats, increases white blood cells (which boosts your immune system), and is a natural cough suppressant. 





If your throat is REALLY hurting you (like mine was), then gargling some salt water, or apple cider vinegar will do the trick! I diluted some apple cider vinegar with a little bit of water, and gargled the mixture for as long as i could stand, about 20 seconds. Repeat this a few times, trying to let the vinegar reach to the back of your throat. This will kill the harmful bacteria that is causing your throat to hurt. After you gargle and spit, you will notice the phlegm. It is gross, but at least its out of your body now! If you can stand it, drink a shot of apple cider vinegar to get the most benefit.


Cooking with garlic while you're sick is extremely beneficial, as garlic is naturally anti-viral, anti-biotic, anti-microbial and anti-parasitic. It really does work!!! Add cayenne pepper for even more flu-fighting effect!



If you have a bad cough- do not buy DayQuil or any cough syrup! Pineapple juice is FIVE times more effective than what you would buy at the pharmacy (and safer..and cheaper). Pineapples contain bromelain (an enzyme with anti-inflammatory properties), and will fight infection and kill bacteria. Make a pineapple smoothie (with real pineapples) and enjoy!


As I'm writing this article, I'm still not feeling 100% back to health yet. I'm not saying that eating well and keeping your immune system up means that you'll never get sick again. But I do believe that with healthy eating, daily exercise, a positive mind, great sleep, and genuine care for yourself- the rare times that you do get sick, it will pass by so quickly that it will feel like you are never sick! Your body is capable of healing itself!


So can the flu, or other sicknesses really be "in season"? :roll:

I don't believe so. The only problem during "flu season" is the body's inability to adapt- due to less sun exposure and many other factors (including stress, sugar, dehydration, and unhealthy diet). Remember, your body just needs some rest and care. Make some chicken noodle soup, curl up in bed with some tea, watch a funny movie, or simply take a nap- and soon enough you'll wonder why you ever complained about being sick!
